Dharamshala, 15 March, TibetNet: The Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile (TPIE) began its 3rd session yesterday afternoon after the grand long-life prayer offering to His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

In his opening address, Karma Chophel, speaker of the TPIE, gave an account of what have happened to the issue of Tibet in the last six months.

He expressed his concern over the deplorable human rights situation in Tibet, including denunciation campaign against His Holiness the Dalai Lama since last May and the Nangpa-La tragedy, all of which he said shows Tibet's worsening situation.

He updated the deputies on the second All India Tibet Support Groups Conference held at Bodh Gaya in Bihar on 13-15 October 2006, which he said was very successful.

Highlighting the importance of support from India, he said His Holiness the Dalai Lama has always considered the support from India to be of utmost importance.
